From October 2-5, 2025, colleagues from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Rijeka, presented work on EVERYONE project at the international Adria Climate Conference on climate change and preservation of marine ecosystems in the Adriatic Sea.
The presentation addressed one of the most urgent challenges of our time: preparing the next generation of engineers to meet Europe’s ambitious climate and energy goals. In the context of the European Green Deal, the session highlighted how the demand for skilled professionals in renewable energy continues to grow at an unprecedented pace. The initiative envisions an interconnected network of universities and companies that will nurture a new generation of engineers, equipped with interdisciplinary skills spanning solar, hydro, wind, and wave energy technologies. By aligning academic training with industry needs, the project aims to position young professionals at the forefront of Europe’s decarbonization efforts.
The presentation sparked meaningful discussion at Adria Climate 2025, reinforcing the idea that building human capacity is as critical as technological innovation in tackling climate change and safeguarding marine ecosystems in the Adriatic and beyond.
